The Ruth Roemer Social Justice Symposium honors the legacy of the late Ruth Roemer, JD, FSPH Professor Emerita who for over five decades used the law to protect and promote health and was a champion of health equity and social justice.
Join us as we award Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Third District, Los Angeles County with the Ruth Roemer Social Justice Leadership Award for her critical contributions on the issue of homelessness and commitment to creating healthier futures for all. As Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Kuehl has undertaken or collaborated on a number of initiatives to improve the health and well-being of the county’s most vulnerable populations, such as providing unprecedented funding and services for individuals experiencing homelessness and those trying to find and keep affordable housing.
Following the award and Supervisor Kuehl’s guest lecture on the topic of homelessness, we are thrilled to induct distinguished alumni into the Fielding School’s Alumni Hall of Fame, which honors those who have made significant contributions to the field of public health. This year’s inductees include: Michael Prelip (MPH 1985, DPA), Vonthanak Saphonn (PhD 2003, MS 2004, MSc, MD), Myat Htoo Razak (MPH 1991, PhD 1995, MBBS), and Emily J. Feher (MPH 2012).
Tickets are available now.
A reception will precede the event.
